WHAT IS A LINE IMPEDANCE STABILIZATION NETWORK?

Isolate the power and data lines to your DUT (device under test) to eliminate outside and unknown electrical noises, providing a stable impedance during your testing. Line impedance stabilization networks (LISN's) are used for electromagnetic compliance testing as well as engineering labs for better performance and more accurate measurements.

TYPES OF LINE IMPEDANCE STABILIZATION NETWORKS

  • Single Phase AC
  • Three Phase AC (4 or 5 lines)
  • DC and Battery Power (two lines)
  • Data lines (symmetrical or asymmetrical lines)

IS THERE A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LINE IMPEDANCE STABILIZATION NETWORK AND ARTIFICIAL NETWORK?

No. The difference is primarily based on how a test standard refers to the practice of line stability and isolation. The terms artificial networks and artificial mains networks are typically found in automotive test standards.

WHAT IS A V-LISN?

The V-LISN is the most commonly used LISN, measuring the unsymmetric disturbance voltage between the two lines L1 and ground or L2 and ground respectively. There are two types of V-LISN with different impedances (5μH and 50μH).

The T-ISN measures the asymmetric disturbance voltage (common mode voltage), used for telecommunication and data transmission equipment connected to symmetrical lines (IE twisted pairs).
