Overview
The Schwarzbeck VUFM 1670 is small, lightweight and low priced non frequency selective Efield meter. It can be used for relatively high field strengths e.g. to observe the field in a TEM cell or a strip line.
The field of application includes to use the device as a measurement probe according to IEC 61000-4-3, monitoring of a work area for efield limit checks or to find leakages in production plants real quick. The focus of the device is to be easily usable and gathering a wide frequency range fast while providing a long time of operation. For selective measurements an EMI measurement receiver like the Schwarzbeck FCLE 1835 are suitable.
It will give several hundred hours of operation with only 5 size AA batteries. The frequency range covers all kinds of AM, FM and TV transmitters, including CB, amateur radio and cellular nets. The small measuring dipole permits measurement even in tiny stripline cells without substantial error. Uncertainties are minimized if the dipole is centered in the cell and measures max. 1/3 of the septum height.
The measurement dynamic from 1 V/m to 300 V/m is divided into 3 large ranges. The ranges give perfect and easy reading of common limits like 3 V/m, 15 V/m and 200 V/m near the centre of the instrument. The measuring dipole (probe) is directive for easy direction finding of field sources. Operation and reading is very simple. Only two toggle switches are used for all settings. To be able to mount the device on a tripod there is a standard thread on the bottom of the housing.
Accessories:
The analog meter VUFM 1670 can be combined with an LCD display unit VUFM 1671. The connection is realized using a plastic optical fiber which is connected to the right side of the housing of the VUFM 1670. Furthermore a GPIB readable digital display unit VUFM 1672 is available. It allows to set up computer controlled radiated immunity systems with strip lines. The connection between the meter VUFM 1670 and the GPIB unit VUFM 1672 also uses an optical fiber.
