HFRAE 5163 Overview
The Loop Antenna for magnetic fields was designed to measure medium to high-level field-strengths in the frequency range from 9 kHz to 400 MHz in combination with 50Ω Measuring Instruments. The loop is shielded against electrical fields. Thanks to the passive design very high fieldstrengths can be measured without compression or intermodulation effects caused by the probe.
The HFRAE 5163 is designed to obtain maximum output voltages of 1 V (120 dB µV ) across 50 Ω when exposed to the highest limits for radiated immunity tests, e.g. in VG 95373- 13 and VG 95373-23. The HFRAE 5163 is also well suited to measure the protection limits according to IEEE C.95.1-1999 and IEEE C.95.1-2005, ICNIRP, FCC 96-236, and many other standards. The antenna factor is nearly constant at 25 dB/Ωm in the frequency range of 1 MHz to 400 MHz. From 9 kHz to approx. 100 kHz the antenna factor falls with 20 dB/frequencydecade.
Application of the HFRAE 5163:
To determine the magnetic fieldstrength in dBµA/m we have to add the value of the magnetic antenna factor kH in dB/Ωm on the voltage reading in dBµV of the measuring instrument as well as the cable attenuation in dB.
