The Logistics and Inventory Manager at The EMC Shop plays a critical role in managing the entire lifecycle of our high-value and sensitive electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) test equipment. This is a hands-on position responsible for optimizing inventory, ensuring meticulous tracking, and coordinating the timely, safe, and efficient movement of equipment for sales, rentals, calibration, and repair. The manager will ensure specialized handling procedures for RF and ESD-sensitive items are followed, maintaining the integrity of our assets and supporting rapid, reliable service for our customers.
Responsibilities
- Inventory Management & Asset Tracking:
- Oversee the management of a high-value inventory of EMC test equipment, including RF amplifiers, spectrum analyzers, antennas, LISNs, and ESD simulators.
- Implement and manage a robust inventory tracking system, leveraging technologies like RFID to ensure real-time visibility and 100% accuracy for all assets, including serial numbers.
- Enforce strict protocols for receiving, inspecting, storing, and issuing specialized test equipment, including sensitive RF and ESD-sensitive devices.
- Manage the inventory for both sale and rental stock, optimizing levels to meet customer demand while minimizing carrying costs.
- Maintain meticulous records of equipment service history, calibration certificates, and performance issues within the inventory system.
- Logistics & Shipping:
- Coordinate inbound and outbound logistics for both sales and rental orders, including domestic and international shipments.
- Plan and execute shipments requiring specialized handling, anti-static precautions, custom crating, or climate control to prevent damage to sensitive equipment.
- Negotiate with specialized carriers and freight forwarders, monitoring their performance to ensure timely and safe delivery.
- Manage all necessary customs and compliance documentation for the import and export of test equipment, ensuring adherence to international regulations.
- Service & Calibration Coordination:
- Manage the logistics for coordinating equipment sent for ISO/IEC 17025 accredited calibration services, repair, or preventative maintenance.
- Track all in-transit and in-service equipment to ensure quick turnaround times, which is critical for supporting both rental and customer-owned equipment.
- Process Optimization & Compliance:
- Drive continuous improvement by analyzing logistics and inventory data, identifying trends, and creating reports for senior management on inventory levels and KPIs.
- Collaborate with the sales and technical support teams to forecast inventory needs and ensure seamless order fulfillment for customers.
- Ensure all warehouse and logistics procedures comply with ISO 17025 standards and other relevant industry certifications.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in logistics and inventory management, with a minimum of 2 years handling high-value electronic or technical equipment.
- Proven expertise with inventory management software and asset tracking technology (e.g., RFID).
- Experience negotiating with carriers and vendors.
- Deep understanding of specialized handling requirements for sensitive electronic equipment (e.g., ESD and RF).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and team leadership skills.
- Knowledge of international shipping regulations and customs procedures.
- ISO 17025 experience or familiarity with the standard is highly preferred.
